How much
input do I get in to what makes the final video? |
You choose your level of input. We prefer that you select all
the clips you want to use so that the final video doesn’t
end up being a complete “surprise.” Using Live2Digital's
worksheet when you place your order, you can customize every part
of your video. From titles to music, it’s all up to you.
Don’t have time? You can trust us to pick the clips, titles,
music, etc. for you with the Quick
Picks Add-On package.

Is
satisfaction guaranteed? Is there a refund policy? |
Live2Digital guarantees that the final video will be technically
correct in every way that you request.
If the final video content does not match the order or content
that you request then we offer you a free recompilation of the
video or an 80% refund.
If the final video has any sort of major video or audio glitch
(which wasn't in the original source) we offer you a corrected
copy of the video free of charge and a 20% refund.

Will my
videos be returned?
And will my privacy be protected? How? |
All the videos you submit to Live2Digital will be returned to
you with your final video, unscathed and fully functional.
Privacy is important. We realize that home movies are a private
part of your family's life. Therefore, we guarantee that your
videos will never be unlawfully copied without your express written
consent.

Will I
need a special device to play the DVD you produce? |
Most DVD players on the market today can play DVD-R discs. If
you find you have a problem playing the disc you can request to
rent a DVD player from us for $20/day, or you may request the
movie on VHS tape.
We do not yet rent digital video projectors, but will be adding
this service soon at a $50/day rate. Please find out if your venue
has DVD playing/projection capability. Using a projector is the
preferred method to show your custom movie to a large audience.

07
|
What form
of payment do you accept? |
Currently we accept cash, money orders, personal checks, and payment
through PayPal
via your checking account.
|
|
|
08
|
What
format can my video be when I submit it to you? |
We accept all the major home-camcorder formats including VHS,
VHS-C, 8mm, Hi8, Digital8, and miniDV. In addition, if you already
have DVD footage you wish to incorporate, we can work with that
as well.
We currently do not accept old film reels.

What are
the differences between the various formats? |
∙ VHS tapes are the standard
format used in VCRs today. Some of the first home-movie cameras
used this format. We accept VHS for archiving and custom video
production. We also output to VHS upon request.
∙ VHS-C tapes are a similar
format to VHS but smaller in size. To play VHS-C you will need a
special adapter that accepts the VHS-C cartridge that can then
be played in any VCR. We accept VHS-C for archiving and custom
video.
8mm tapes can only be played
from an 8mm camcorder. There is no adapter for playing 8mm tapes
on VCR. We accept all of the following formats for archival and
custom video:
∙ Standard 8mm - the original
8mm format, low resolution.
∙ Hi8 - higher resolution
8mm format; requires Hi8 cam.
∙ Digital8 - the Sony-based
digital 8mm format, high res.
∙ MiniDV is the current
"standard" format in the home-movie camera market. MiniDV is a
fully digital format offering relatively high resolution video
and the ability to transfer data digitally to any PC.

If I want
a certain song or movie clip in my movie, do I have to provide you
with it? |
We have a large archive of music and movies, but at times we will
request that you submit the particular song or movie you wish
to use in your video.
Other creative ideas are to possibly include a clip from a
favorite video game, music video, or TV show.

|
What is
the quality of the final video? If I submit VHS/8mm tapes will the
final output be higher quality? |
The final video will be DVD quality, and never worse than your
originals.
Quality of final video is entirely dependant on the source of
original video. We can't increase the quality of a poor original.
However final video quality is usually very acceptable, even with
a poor original. Final video quality will never be worse than
your originals.
Otherwise DVD quality is dependant on how much video is contained
on each disc. Thus, 2 hours of video on one disc will be of a
lower quality than 30 minutes of similar video on the same disc.
If you wish to have the highest quality possible for video
archival you can choose to have 60 to 90 minutes of video archived
to each disc (versus the standard 120 minutes we recommend) for
+ $20.

|

|
Why does
it takes so long to receive the final product? |
Simply put, quality video editing takes time. Accuracy in the
final product is important. Also, the 10 week standard time is
only a guideline - sometimes the final product will be delivered
much sooner (depends on complexity of packages ordered and video
content.)
Finally, we do offer Rush Production.

What is
a DVD chapter? What is a DVD menu? |
Chapters on a DVD disc act like tracks on a CD. Each chapter acts
as a break in the movie that you can skip to and from using your
DVD player.
Menus are the first thing you see when you play a DVD. The menu
includes links to every chapter on the disc. Menu's usually include
1 graphical background and either stills or short video clips
from each chapter as links to each chapter. Motion menus have
videos as backgrounds.

What is a
title? (In reference to the custom movie) |
Titles are text which appears onscreen during the video. They
are an excellent way of referencing an event by name and/or the
date it occurred. Titles can also be used to add comic effect
to a video clip. Titles are available in any font, size, color,
and style. Titles can also appear, or wipe-in from the side of
the screen.

What is a
transition? (In reference to the custom movie) |
Transitions are the effects that take place between two video
clips or two photographs. Basic transitions are 2D and dissolve
into each other using various methods. 3D transitions involve
a 3D model or "flight" of one clip into another. To
see some examples of both types, see the video clips on this site,
or order our sample DVD.
Example of a few transitions from Clip 1 to Clip 2:

Clip 2:

These are only four of the hundreds of transitions available
for use in your custom movie.
